Meet Sara Berteramo, OD

Sara Berteramo, OD comes from a family of dedicated eye care professionals, with her parents serving patients for over 41 years. Inspired by this legacy, she has built her own career with a focus on compassionate, patient-centered vision care.

She began her training in Rome, Italy, graduating magna cum laude in Orthoptics at Policlinico Gemelli in 2009, where she worked closely with ophthalmologists in the management of pediatric patients, strabismus, double vision, retinal disease, and glaucoma. She went on to complete her Optometry degree in Perugia in 2012 and practiced in Italy until 2018, when she moved to the United States to further her education and career.

In 2021, she completed a Master’s degree with honors in Clinical Optometry at Salus University, specializing in binocular vision, vision therapy, and medical optometry. She then earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with honors at the New England College of Optometry (NECO) in 2025. Her clinical training emphasized pediatric care, binocular vision disorders, double vision management, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye, ocular emergencies, and the ocular manifestations of systemic disease.

Dr. Berteramo’s goal is to provide exceptional eye care that improves not only vision but also the quality of life for her patients.

Outside of work, she loves to travel, visit her family in Italy, spend quality time with her loved ones and pets, and cook authentic Italian meals
